Terri and I stopped here on our way to Washington in January of 2005. It was an unusual place as we stood there all alone in this seemingly deserted place. It was a litle erie to imagine what had happened there in 2001. Solemn and sobering.

From all I can gather, William Howard Taft was making a campaign stop in McDermott back in the day when this small town produced a lot of sandstone block for construstion. The angle suggets that he was on his way to Portsmouth traveling from Cincinnati.

This crane is pictured in one of the stone quarrys in the McDermott area. What's important to know is that it was purchased from the government after it was used to built the Panama canal.
This old depot was an important part of the life in the little town of McDermott Ohio about 3 miles from where I live.
My Dad, Myself and my children all attended this school in McDermott. Lot's of memories!
When the current McDermott Post Office was dedicated Roy came home, back in the 50's I Believe.
